Project 673
Project 673
Project 673 was designed in 1960, CDB-112 (Chief Designer Amenitsky A.). The aim of the project was to determine the possibility of creating a small submarine with a displacement of about 1,500 tons, and select the type of nuclear power plant.
Were studied three areas of the project: the creation of a submarine with a displacement of about 1,500 tons. (Type "M" - version 4), with a slightly larger displacement (type "B" - 8 options) and a higher cruising speed (40 knots). In the elaboration of the displacement was obtained from 1500 to 2450 tons, Full submerged speed of 35 to 40 knots, capacity of NPP 25000-40000 hp
Seven variants of the SSN have been carried out without the protections sliding devices. One option was a twin-shaft, and the rest - single-shaft. It is also proposed a number of original design solutions. All the materials of the project 673 were transferred in January 1961 to the SKB-143 for use in the work on other projects submarines. In particular developments of the project 673 were used in the design of high-speed automated submarine Project 705 "Alfa".
